GROUPS
Basler Papiermühle offers school children, students and adults an abundance of bookable active tours and tours of the museum in German, French, English and Italian.
You will need to register at least two weeks before you want to come. Please also enquire about a reservation for self-guided tours with groups of 10 people or more.
Wide selection of bookable tours
- Large active tour (90–120 minutes)
Experience traditional craftsmanship within an authentic setting during a guided tour, including making your own paper and printing. - Active paper tour (60 minutes)
Guided tour through the history of paper making, including making your own paper. - Active writing and printing tour (60 minutes)
Guided tour through the history of book printing, including a hands-on printing activity. - Tour of the museum (60 minutes)
Tour of the entire museum with an in-depth look at the permanent exhibition. - Schöpfplausch (60–90 minutes)
Outside the normal opening hours (Tues-Sun), we offer an enjoyable and relaxed introduction into the art of paper making together with an apéro. There is also an opportunity to make your own paper. - Apéros
Apéros are possible in combination with tours.
SCHOOLS
Basler Papiermühle offers schools, vocational training colleges, universities and other educational institutions a wide range of learning opportunities. Check out our group offers for more information on bookable active tours and tours of the museum.
School groups are required to make reservations two weeks in advance, subject to confirmation. Please note that reservation requests are also necessary for unguided school groups from 10 people upwards. A second supervisor is recommended for groups of 10 children or more.
With guided and self-guided groups of 10 people or more, marbling in our interactive area is, unfortunately, not possible due to space constraints.
Free entry for groups of school pupils, apprentices and students as well as for groups of IV card holders from the cantons of BS & BL.
Leisure activities (leisure pass, scouts, etc.): Admission fee CHF 10 per person.
EQUIPMENT RENTAL
MOULDS FOR PAPERMAKING
The Basel Paper Mill crafts moulds for papermaking in various sizes. These can be rented in formats A5 and A4.

MOBILE PAPERMAKING EQUIPMENT
For courses, workshops, and business events, consider renting our mobile vat!
Basic equipment includes a wooden vat with footstool, stirring rod, press, a screen with boards and gauze felts in A5 or A4 formats is also available.
and drying press (for A5 paper). To complete your own papermaking workshop, you can purchase ready-to-use paper pulp.

RENTAL SPACES
EVENT SPACE & MEETING ROOM RENTAL
The event room Atelier 39 in the Zunzigermühle (ground floor, 80 square metres), the museum’s outbuilding, offers an atmospheric setting for your event. This bright room is particularly suitable for business events and seminars.

The Veranstaltungsraum in the museum building (3rd floor, 80 square metres) with its warm character is particularly suitable for family events. Address: St. Alban-Tal 37
Equipment and capacity of the two rooms:
Equipped with the usual modern means of communication, projector with screen and individual furnishing options, both rooms are ideal for banquets, company and club events, seminars and lectures.
Up to 45 people can enjoy a meal at the table, while concert seating can accommodate around 70 people.
